Ford’s reckless 413 plan is a waste of time and taxpayer dollars

QUEEN'S PARK — Schreiner released the following statement responding to the government’s announcement that it is continuing work on Highway 413.

“In the midst of a trade war and affordability crisis, Premier Ford is bulldozing ahead with a supersprawl highway to line the pockets of billionaires while wasting billions of taxpayer dollars.

Building Highway 413 will only fuel more expensive sprawl, more congestion and more pollution while paving over farms, forests and waterways. People don’t want to lose more farmland. They want a government that actually works for them to make life better and more affordable.

Instead of building expensive highways and ripping out bike lanes in Toronto, Greens are calling on Doug Ford to take real action to reduce gridlock and make life more affordable while protecting the farmland that feeds us and the nature that makes Ontario special.”
