Digital Communications Coordinator

Location: Toronto, Ontario (Office located in Liberty Village)

Type: Contract, $43,000-$46,000/year

The Green Party of Ontario is on the search for a digitally wise communications person to help amplify our message about putting people and planet first.

Fresh off electing our first ever MPP to the Ontario legislature last year, and as a Green Wave builds across Canada, we are growing our staff of dedicated political nerds.

You will be part of a small communications team, working hard to spread the Green Party of Ontario message across multiple platforms using your social media savvy.

Primarily you will be responsible for generating digital content, creating posts for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram that share our take on the daily news and our vision for the future.

With core competencies in design and the written word, you will help our message catch fire in digital spaces. The ideal candidate can whip up a cute infographic, craft a clever tweet, and share a story that will have people thinking Green in the online world.

As a communications generalist with a small organization, you might also be asked to pitch in on anything from fundraising emails and press releases to photography and video editing.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the GPO profile on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other social media accounts

  • Creating digital media in the form of daily posts and regular engagement with followers

  • Transforming press releases and news clips into compelling content for the public

  • Managing online advertising campaigns

  • Producing online campaigns and email outreach to engage new audiences

  • Exploring new digital channels through which the GPO can share its message

  • Providing technical support on design, photography, web and video editing

  • Assisting occasionally with events, fundraisers and meetings

Qualifications:

  • Proven skills using major social media platforms

  • Education or prior experience working in communications role

  • Strong written skills and command of journalistic language

  • Basic competency with creative design tools (software or online)

  • Able to deliver outcomes under tight deadlines

  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently

  • Capacity to communicate and discuss political issues

Bonus: 

  • Interest in the Green Party and politics in Ontario

  • Functional in French (written and verbal)
