Richter: “Ford’s making a quick buck on our waterfront”
August 24, 2026
GRAVENHURST — Richter responded to news that the the company picked by the Ford government to redevelop part of the Muskoka Lake waterfront paid to attend a PC fundraiser.
“The Ford government cares more about lining the pockets of PC donors using shady MZOs than safeguarding Muskoka’s water.
The people of Muskoka want this government to respect local democracy, protect the places we love and invest in our community.
But it’s clear that Doug Ford isn’t working for the people of Muskoka—he’s working for his rich and powerful donors.
Turns out, if you can afford to shell out $1,000 to shake hands with the Premier at one of his fundraising events, he’ll steamroll local voices to help you out.
This has to stop. We must stand up for local decision-making. And we must stand up for Muskoka’s lakes and rivers so we can protect the species that rely on them, and so that we can continue to enjoy the places that make Muskoka special.
I’m calling on Doug Ford to listen to the people of Muskoka and abandon the Cliff Bay MZO.”
