Richter: “Doug Ford is selling off Muskoka to rich developers”

MUSKOKA — Matt Richter issued the following statement in response to the Ford government plans to use an MZO to sell off lakefront land on Muskoka Bay to a developer.

“Time and time again, Doug Ford bends the rules to help rich developers make a buck.

Now, he’s targeting Muskoka–attempting to bulldoze local decision-making so he can sell off part of the Muskoka lakefront to a private company. All to build a luxury spa and hotel that will decimate shoreline protections and put sensitive ecosystems at risk.

Our community has shown up in full force to oppose this plan because we care about preserving the natural spaces that make Muskoka special.

We can’t let Ford’s ministers silence our community and destroy the places we love from their offices at Queen’s Park. 

I’m calling on this government to listen to our community: Keep public lands in public hands, abandon this MZO and put everyday people and the places we love ahead of profits for the rich and powerful.”
