Matt Pearce named Ontario Greens candidate in York–Simcoe
July 28, 2026
EAST GWILLIMBURY — Matt Pearce has been named Ontario Greens’ candidate for York–Simcoe in the upcoming byelection.
Matt is an East Gwillimbury resident who believes in a fairer and more affordable Ontario—one where everyday people come before corporate profits.
Having spent most of his career working in automotive manufacturing, Matt understands the unique advantage the sector brings to Ontario and the importance of creating a complete plan to protect workers and the industry in the midst of American tariffs.
“I’m serious about building a fairer Ontario where everyone has what they need to thrive,” said Pearce. “I’m ready to go to bat for my community—to fight for more affordable homes, investments in public education, and strong protections for the people and places we love.”
Matt has a deep connection to Ontario’s lakes, rivers and forests and spends his time hiking, camping and fishing. He knows that Ontario’s natural spaces are what make our province special and he is committed to fighting for the place we love against Doug Ford’s reckless attacks.
“Matt is ready to work hard to make life easier and more affordable in his community,” said Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner. “He puts people before profits every single day, and I know that his dedication and commitment to his community will serve the people of York–Simcoe well.”
