Doug Ford wants to give taxpayer money to oil and gas executives

QUEEN'S PARK — Mike Schreiner issued the following statement in response to the Ford government announcing the proposed route for an oil pipeline from Alberta to Ontario.

“Doug Ford’s pipeline pipe-dream is a massive giveaway to oil and gas companies. It will pad corporate pockets but do nothing to make our energy bills cheaper or our lives more affordable.

His government is giving our taxpayer dollars to corporate executives under the guise of energy security.

The best way to create jobs and bring down energy costs is to build made-in-Ontario, low-cost renewable energy. 

This is how we can take advantage of the $8 trillion global green economy and secure our position as a global renewable energy superpower.

It’s time for the Ford government to stop putting the profits of oil and gas giants ahead of the people of this province. The Ontario Greens will keep fighting for an affordable, prosperous future that puts people before profits.”
