Ford’s board supervisors are keeping parents in the dark

TORONTO — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to parents' concerns about lack of transparency regarding planned budget cuts for TDSB:

“While TDSB students lose more and more resources, Doug Ford’s hand-picked supervisors are failing to provide parents with meaningful updates about the latest budget.

Families, students, educators and unions deserve to be at the table and consulted on critical decisions that will impact the future of education in their community. 

Instead, the Ford government and its supervisors are taking every opportunity to slash democratic oversight and public consultation. 

For years, the Ford government’s chronic underfunding has created unsafe, overcrowded and understaffed classrooms with inadequate supports for students with special needs.

Now, under Ford’s supervisors, things are getting worse, parents are being kept in the dark and students are the ones paying the price.

Ontario Greens are calling on the Ford government to meaningfully engage with parents, unions and educators, and stop starving public education, especially special education.”
