Clancy: Our teachers are in trouble
April 7, 2026
QUEEN'S PARK — Aislinn Clancy released the following statement responding to the news that the TDSB is cutting 607 teacher roles for fall.
“Every student in Ontario deserves a chance to succeed, but Doug Ford’s school board takeovers are setting them up to fail.
Because the Ford government refuses to invest in public education, students and teachers will return from summer break to larger class sizes and more dangerous classrooms. This government’s chronic underfunding has already created a crisis in our classrooms. To solve this, we need more adults in classrooms, not fewer.
Doug Ford is spending taxpayer dollars on airports and islands while starving our schools. He is putting massive mega projects and wealthy insiders ahead of our kids.
Ontario Greens are calling on the Ford government to get their priorities straight. It’s time to make real investments in public education to reduce class sizes, address the massive school repair backlog and increase support for Special Education.”
