Toronto kids feeling the effects of Ford’s education cuts

QUEEN'S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement responding to the news that TDSB will cut five outdoor education programs.

“For years, our kids have been suffering the consequences of the Ford government’s chronic underfunding of public education. 

Now, under the supervision of Ford’s handpicked supervisors, kids are losing even more resources. 

Students in Toronto will miss out on important and impactful outdoor education opportunities. Experiences that allow kids to connect with the natural world and apply the scientific concepts they’re learning in the classroom. 

Meanwhile, the Ford government is dumping taxpayer dollars into an island airport and blowing $200,000 on Doug Ford’s private jet fumble. All the while, our schools are in crisis and kids keep losing. 

Our kids deserve a government that puts their learning before massive mega projects and backroom deals. It’s time to make real investments in public education and stop cutting the programs our students need to learn and grow.”
