Doug Ford’s Ontario puts Ford first, people last

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens leader and MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to Doug Ford buying a private jet.

“Doug Ford is using taxpayer dollars like his own luxury piggy bank – this time, he’s cashing in on a private jet.

This government just introduced a budget with nothing in it to make life better or more affordable for ordinary, hardworking Ontarians.

Nothing to bring down housing costs for young people or build affordable and supportive homes for the 85,000 Ontarians facing homelessness.

Nothing for students being forced to choose between dropping out of school or taking on a mountain of debt. 

Nothing to address the crises in our classrooms and hospitals.

Ordinary Ontarians are struggling to make ends meet as the cost of rent, groceries and gas just keep going up. And Doug Ford told them: you’re out of luck.

Meanwhile, the Premier and his staff are making more money than ever – with salaries topping $8 million for the first time in history.

And now, on top of this, Doug Ford is doling out millions of tax payer dollars for his own private, luxury jet for him and his insider friends.

This government’s priorities are so out of touch with the lives of everyday people. Time and time again, he puts himself and his wealthy friends first, and the people of Ontario last. 

Ontario Greens are calling on this government to axe the private jet, and use taxpayer dollars to actually make life easier and more affordable for everyday people.“
