FAO shows: People can’t get ahead under this budget

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Financial Accountability Office (FAO) 2026 Ontario Budget Note:

“This report confirms it—Doug Ford’s budget is for the wealthy and well-connected, not for everyday people.

Under this budget, life is going to get even harder and more expensive.

Massive cuts to all the things people really need to thrive like housing, healthcare, education and social services. Meanwhile, interest on debt is Ontario’s fastest growing expenditure and housing starts are still at rock bottom lows while unemployment is sky-high. 

Doug Ford’s priorities are completely out of touch with everyday people.

Balancing the budget has been put off for another year, billions are being funnelled into vanity projects in the GTA and this government still has no plan to make life easier and more affordable. 

Ontario Greens are calling on this government to get their priorities straight and put everyday people before insider profits.”
