Ontario needs an EV strategy now

GUELPH — Ontario Greens Leader and MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner issued the following statement in response to Canada’s new EV deal with China:

“The federal government’s latest deal with China threatens Ontario’s auto sector and the workers who depend on it.

Now is the time for the Premier to work with all levels of government and bring forward a complete plan to protect Ontario workers and our automotive industry. 

Greens continue to call on the Ford government to create an EV strategy that incentivizes demand through a rebate program for made-in-Ontario EVs and a procurement program for public-sector fleets.

Ford must act now to protect Ontario’s auto sector and the workers, families and communities that rely on it.”
