Schreiner calls for urgent action to support workers

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the announcement that Algoma Steel issued 1,000 layoff notices.

“Today’s announcement from Algoma Steel is the latest in a series of devastating job losses in the province. 

Just as we head into the holiday season, 1,000 workers and their families are now facing an uncertain future. 

Ontario Greens are calling on the Ford government to come to the table with a proactive jobs plan that creates demand within Ontario to generate homegrown prosperity. 

We need a government that will invest in made-in-Ontario solutions to create good-paying jobs that will support the families and communities who are bearing the brunt of US tariffs.”
