Ontario Economic Monitor 2026: Ontarians deserve a plan

GUELPH — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Financial Accountability Office’s Ontario Economic Monitor: October 2025 to March 2026:

“Under Doug Ford, the system is stacked against everyday people.

More job losses for youth, more losses for manufacturing—and Doug Ford has no plan to help hardworking Ontarians get back on their feet.

The Ford government could create jobs now by investing in the fastest growing sector of the global economy by supporting made-in-Ontario renewable energy like wind, solar, and energy storage. 

It could legalize gentle density to quickly build more homes and invest in non-profit, co-op, and supportive housing to boost construction jobs.

It could create an EV strategy that incentivizes demand and brings auto jobs back to the province instead of letting Ontario fall behind. 

Instead, the Premier is taking a five month break from the legislature and leaving Ontarians to fend for themselves. 

Ontario Greens will continue to put workers first with a real plan to bring jobs back to Ontario.”
