Barrie is Ford’s latest target in destructive sprawl agenda

QUEEN'S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to Ford government’s plan to expand urban boundaries for the City of Barrie.

“Doug Ford once again plans to bulldoze local decision making to pave over our farms, forests and sensitive watersheds in service of his expensive sprawl agenda. 

There are plenty of ways to build the homes we need within existing urban boundaries and communities by legalizing gentle density and building more kinds of homes.

But the Ford government has repeatedly said no to quick and low-cost infill development in favour of costly sprawl, and is instead forcing their bad planning onto municipalities.

This is another Ford government land grab that will do nothing to solve the housing crisis, and will instead line the pockets of well-connected speculators.”
