Ford is spending more to deliver less while Ontarians struggle
September 17, 2025
GUELPH — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the latest Financial Accountability Office (FAO) Summer 2025 Economic and Budget Outlook:
“Once again, the numbers tell the story: the Ford government is spending more to deliver less and Ontarians are paying the price.
Housing starts are down 23% from last year, which was already a weak year for construction.
Unemployment is the highest it’s been in over a decade (excluding COVID years).
Ontario is facing a projected $9 billion deficit by 2030.
Time and again, this government funnels public dollars into wasteful projects like the 401 tunnel while failing to address the basics like homes people can afford.
Under Doug Ford, the housing crisis has deepened and job losses are mounting. Billions are being spent with no real plan to tackle the root causes.
Ontarians deserve bold, honest leadership that will bring housing costs down, create good, green jobs and help people build a better future. Ford’s status quo is failing.
It’s time to act on what matters and put Ontarians first.”
