Schreiner: Ford is underfunding the services we rely on

QUEEN'S PARK — Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Financial Accountability Office’s Spending Plan Reviews.

“The Ford government just keeps cutting funding to the services people need most. 

Under this Premier, the budgets for essential services keep getting stretched thinner and thinner, and we all feel the harm. 

We feel it in the form of longer wait times at the ER, fewer kids who can afford to go to college or university, fewer long-term care beds for the people that need them and even less support for people forced to live in legislative poverty on OW and ODSP.

Meanwhile, Doug Ford continues to line the pockets of rich investors with taxpayer dollars. Under Doug Ford, the rich keep getting richer while life just gets harder for everyone else.

It’s time for this Premier to get his priorities straight and prioritize affordability for everyday people over profits for rich investors. 

Greens will continue to fight for real investment in the services we all rely on, including healthcare, long-term care, education, affordable homes and doubling ODSP and OW rates.”
