Premier needs to listen to the science

QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to this morning’s COVID modelling from the Science Table:

“Half measures will only prolong the pandemic.

We’ve heard this today from Ontario’s ICU doctors and now from Dr. Brown and the Science Table.

We need to break the chain and get ahead of this virus once and for all.

That means vaccinating essential workers in the high risk communities now. It means legislating paid sick days so workers are not going to work sick. It means paid time off for workers to get vaccinated.

The government needs to step up and support people and businesses so they can stay home and stay safe without risking their health.

Ontarians need decisive action that is transparent and clearly communicated — not muddled in an ever-changing framework.

Premier, you say you’re putting lives and livelihoods first. But right now, you’re doing neither. Stop the excuses and the blame game and provide the leadership people need.”
