QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after the Premier announced that Toronto and Peel would enter Stage 3 on Friday:
“I’m happy for the people of Toronto and Peel who have done the hard work of physically distancing and flattening the curve.
But we cannot let our guard down, nor can we let COVID-19 fatigue set in.
The risk of transmission is lower outdoors, so people should continue to limit their time spent at indoor establishments in close proximity to others.
I encourage everyone to wear a mask when going inside to shop or to dine, and this is a message that must come clearly from the Premier as well.
Premier Ford must assure the public that he will not hesitate to pull us back to Stage 2 if the curve starts going in the wrong direction.
Aggressive public health measures must be the norm until we have a vaccine.”
