Schreiner slams Ford’s healthcare privatization failure

QUEEN'S PARK — Schreiner released the following statement responding to the CCPA’s report, Not adding up: surgical and diagnostic privatization in Ontario.

“Time and time again, Doug Ford puts the profits of rich shareholders first, and the people of Ontario last. 

The result is that life is harder and less affordable for people. 

When this government started pouring money into private surgery and diagnostic clinics, it promised that the outcome would be shorter wait times for everyone. Instead, wait times are longer than ever, the quality of our healthcare is going down and Ontarians are paying the price. 

Doug Ford is letting our public healthcare system crumble while private clinics profit. Instead of using tax dollars to line the pockets of private shareholders, this government should be supporting a system that cares for us and the people that make it work. 

It’s time for this government to put people before profits and start making real investments to care for Ontarians.

Greens will continue to fight to stop privatization, and for publicly funded, publicly delivered healthcare.”
