Schreiner delivers Greens convention address
June 16, 2026
HAMILTON — Ontario Greens Leader and MPP for Guelph Mike Schreiner addressed members at the Ontario Greens’ convention. The following is an excerpt from his speech:
“Greens know that Ontarians care for each other.
But in Doug Ford’s Ontario, the rich are getting richer while everyone else is struggling just to get by. Every day, his government is propping up corporations and billionaires and leaving us to foot the bill.
Greens believe in an Ontario where everyone has what they need—one where the government works for people, not for profits. We’re fighting to keep billionaires and big corporations out of politics and make life more affordable for everyday people.
Because as Greens, we know how to build caring communities.
By building affordable homes that work for people, not PC donors.
By making sure every Ontarian has access to high-quality public healthcare without barriers.
By investing in our schools so our kids can grow and thrive.
And by getting oil and gas greed out of our energy sector to lower bills and cut pollution.
Ontario is facing a lot of big challenges—but Greens won’t stop fighting to protect the people and places we all love.
We know that people power wins. Now is the time to focus on strengthening our grassroots movement—building up a strong foundation for the next election.
Coming together like this – learning from each other, sharing ideas – is how we continue that important work, and how we send more local champions to Queen’s Park.”
