Schreiner: Ford is fighting accountability

QUEEN'S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement responding to the government’s plan to exempt the Premier and cabinet from FOI requests.

“MPPs have not even returned to the legislature yet and Doug Ford is already dodging accountability.

This is the same government that is still under active RCMP investigation after the Information and Privacy Commissioner found Ford government staff using code words and personal emails to purposefully hide corrupt decision-making in the Greenbelt scheme. 

The same government that the Auditor General found was “not fair, transparent or accountable” in their management of the Skills Development Fund.

Now, Doug Ford is changing the rules to make it easier to hide the truth.

We need more honesty, accountability and transparency from this government, not less.

Ontarians have a right to know how decisions are being made in their own government.”
