April 6, 2021
GUELPH — The Green Party of Ontario is proud to announce that Mike Schreiner has been nominated as its candidate for the Guelph riding ahead of the 2022 Provincial election.
Schreiner has been the leader of the Green Party of Ontario since 2009. Elected to represent Guelph as the party’s first-ever MPP in 2018, he has effectively brought Guelph’s values and the unique vision of Green politics to the Ontario legislature, consistently putting people and the planet before party politics.
“I’m deeply grateful to the people of Guelph who have given me the opportunity to represent their voices at Queen’s Park,” said Schreiner.
“Since 2018, I have advocated for the local needs of our community. These efforts include protecting water in the Paris Galt Moraine and working with local leaders to advocate for more affordable housing, poverty reduction, support for small businesses and mental health services. And I continue to lead the fight against the Ford government’s destructive agenda of paving over the places we love.”
Schreiner strongly believes that now is the time to build back smarter with a green and caring recovery to jumpstart our economy with good, clean jobs that urgently address the climate crisis.
“We need Guelph’s values and Green voices leading the post-COVID recovery at Queen’s Park,” Schreiner said. “I love being a champion for Guelph, and I will continue to work hard for a greener and more caring future.”
