Ford’s vaccine plan now lagging behind regions
March 3, 2021
QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement on Ontario’s vaccine rollout:
“What is Ford’s vaccine task force doing if the local PHUs are running the show?
Eleven different regions have opted to set up their own booking systems instead of waiting on the Province and as a result they are actively vaccinating seniors 80+.
Meanwhile, the provincial portal is still weeks away. And that is forcing Toronto to wait.
Everyone knew vaccines were coming, so what was the Ford government doing the past 6 months?
What will happen to local booking systems once the provincial portal comes online?
As more and more vaccines arrive, Ford’s government is leaving the public with more questions than answers.
Ontarians deserve a transparent plan that tells them when and how they can get vaccinated. Essential workers in vulnerable workplaces need to know where they stand in the priority schedule.
Ford needs to build public confidence in the vaccine rollout by being clear and transparent about the province’s plan.”
