Ford must act now and call in the military to LTC homes

January 26, 2021

One person is dying every hour in Ontario’s Long Term Care homes while millions of rapid tests sit unused. Enough is enough. Ford needs to take action.

TORONTO — Mike Schreiner released the following statement regarding the humanitarian crisis in Ontario Long Term Care homes:

“Forty-Five people, including residents and staff, have tragically died at Roberta Place Long Term Care home as a result of Covid-19.

Once again, I’m calling on Premier Ford to pick up the phone and call in the military and the Red Cross.

The Prime Minister has offered his help and support — it’s now on the Ford government to act responsibly and urgently, and do the right thing to address this humanitarian crisis and senicide.

One person is dying every hour in Ontario’s Long Term Care homes while millions of rapid tests sit unused.

Enough is enough.

Premier Ford needs to take immediate action with wide-spread deployment of rapid tests, hiring more LTC staff and a call to the military to protect our LTC residents and staff.”
