Schreiner statement on new measures in long-term care homes
March 24, 2020

QUEEN’S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement after emergency measures were enacted for Ontario’s long-term care homes to combat COVID-19:
“Restricting visits could take a heavy emotional toll on our elders in care.
But these measures are necessary to protect those at greatest risk from COVID-19.
I urge family members to stay in close contact with their loved ones over phone and video to maintain a connection that means so much to our elderly population.
I hope that long-term care facilities can devote some extra attention to helping residents use technology to stay connected with their family members during this time.”
