Stacey Danckert has been involved with the Green Party since 2011. As the candidate in the riding of Kitchener-Waterloo in the 2012 by-election and 2014 general election, Stacey has been a passionate advocate for local representation, strong democracy and sustainable decision-making.
Stacey is a strong community member, as Co-director of a local organization, WREN (Waterloo Region Environment Network), she is working to help build the success of local sustainability-oriented organizations through collective action and collaboration. Stacey holds a PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience from the University of Waterloo, and worked as a Postdoctoral fellow at a world-renowned centre for Aging in Toronto.
As Finance Critic, Stacey believes it is essential that our current government move beyond the status quo and use longer-term planning to spend Ontarians’ tax dollars more efficiently. With this approach, saving money wouldn’t come at the expense of our most vulnerable and marginalized people. In fact, focusing on the needs of the people in our communities will save us money.
