About Sandy Brown
Sandy Brown’s journey is a story of dedication, service, and community spirit that is deeply embedded in the heart of Dufferin-Caledon. Born into a family with strong ties to the Caledon area, Sandy’s story began long before his political career took flight.
For over three decades, Sandy immersed himself in community service, volunteering his time and energy to various causes. From coaching young hockey players to leading the Orangeville Lions Club, he became a familiar face in local circles, known for his unwavering commitment to making a difference.
Sandy’s professional path took him from the halls of the University of Toronto, where he earned his Bachelor of Science, to the bustling world of sales and marketing. As a director in Canada and the United States, he honed his leadership skills and business acumen. However, the call of home was strong, and Sandy returned to Dufferin-Caledon, transitioning into real estate and becoming a trusted local realtor and community advocate.
In 2018, Sandy’s dedication to his community culminated in his election as Mayor of Orangeville. Throughout his four-year tenure, he confronted challenges directly, guided by principles of fiscal responsibility, innovative ideas, social justice, and ecological judgment. His leadership saw the town through significant changes, including a police service transition that saved millions and the sale of a valuable railway asset while keeping the tax rate low.
But Sandy’s impact extended beyond the mayor’s office. He wore many hats—from his involvement with the Orangeville Lions Club, Minor Hockey, Dufferin Board of Trade, Habitat for Humanity, Friends of Island Lake, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, and C.N.I.B. Lake Joseph Centre. Sandy values connecting with the community. His influence touched various aspects of community life, addressing homelessness and healthcare while also improving local infrastructure.
Even as his term as mayor concluded in 2022, Sandy’s commitment to public service remained unwavering. His story continues to unfold as he seeks new ways to serve and improve the lives of those in Dufferin-Caledon, embodying the spirit of a true community leader.
