Ontario Greens nominate former Orangeville Mayor Sandy Brown as candidate in Dufferin–Caledon
December 12, 2024
TORONTO — Sandy Brown has been nominated as the Ontario Greens’ candidate for Dufferin–Caledon in the upcoming provincial election.
Sandy Brown is a dedicated community leader with deep roots in Dufferin–Caledon. As the Mayor of Orangeville from 2018 to 2022, Brown has consistently demonstrated his commitment to fiscal responsibility, social justice, and ecological judgment.
During his tenure as Mayor, Brown led a Town Council that implemented free transit and transit improvements in Orangeville and partnered with Wightman Telecom to bring high-speed fibre optic network to the town.
“I’m running because I believe in a government that leads with integrity and a strong work ethic, ensuring that every voice in our community is heard and valued,” said Brown.
“While Doug Ford only cares about Toronto and the GTA, I’m fighting to put our community’s concerns on the map – including protecting prime farmland and stopping Highway 413, building more affordable homes and fixing our healthcare system.”
“Sandy is a local champion with a track record of putting people before politics,” said Ontario Greens Leader Mike Schreiner. “He’s not working for a political party – he’s working for you, and I know he will get more done for the people of Dufferin–Caledon.”
Over the course of his career, Brown has been extensively involved with numerous non-profit organizations and initiatives. His influence has touched various aspects of community life, addressing homelessness and healthcare while also improving local infrastructure.
