Greg Locke

Commitment to community, an enthusiasm towards the environment and active advocacy are driving forces for Greg Locke.

Greg is an MBA graduate, self-employed glass artist, long-standing volunteer, and father together with his wife, daughter, two cats and a border collie.

Residing in Schomberg, it was his move to the rural community of King Township twelve years ago that prompted Greg’s political astuteness and environmental advocacy when he soon became disillusioned with the seemingly insensitive pace, scale and form of development across King’s villages and hamlets.

Greg joined as member and later Chair of Concerned Citizens of King Township (CCKT), a local citizen group focused on the environment and sustainable living, including preserving and protecting natural features, heritage and habitat. He realized the lifestyle and values he wanted to see flourish in his community, common to those who choose King Township as their home, could only be sustained by getting more involved.

He ran for local King Township Council in 2010 and 2014, and has served and supported the volunteer Boards of Arts Society King and York Region Arts Council.  Greg also teaches Sales and Digital Marketing at a local community college.

In his free time, he and his wife Tracy enjoy gardening, entertaining friends and neighbours and restoring their heritage home and barn turned arts studio (called Gotham Glassworks) on Schomberg’s historical Main Street.

As candidate in King-Vaughan, Greg considers this a critical juncture in Ontario, both for the rural communities of King and the more urban City of Vaughan. Greg knows Ontario needs to appoint leaders who value both fiscal responsibility and social progressiveness.  Balancing the needs of growing urban areas and supporting care of the environment is paramount.  Greg thinks it’s time for a change, and he is taking his concerns to the provincial level.  Greg shares the Green Party of Ontario’s vision and values.
