By March 8, Canada will have already exhausted our “budget” of Earth’s resources for the entire year. This isn’t a result of our personal lifestyles; it’s the result of an economy and a system that prioritizes big corporations over the planet and our future.

We refuse to choose between a healthy planet and a life we can afford. We are organizing to take our future back:

Public Power, Not Corporate Profit: Energy is a necessity, not a way to make CEOs rich. We demand a 100% public, renewable energy grid owned by our communities, not for-profit shareholders.
Universal Rights, Not Products: High-quality, free public transit and green housing must be guaranteed public rights for everyone—not just more ways for corporations to extract wealth from us.
A Future for the Many: Young people have a right to a stable climate. We are demanding an end to the “business as usual” that treats the Earth as disposable and our lives as an afterthought.

By March 8, Canada reaches Earth Overshoot Day. This is not a personal failure of the people of Ontario; it is a systemic failure of your leadership. While our generation faces an uncertain future, your government is funneling billions into fossil fuel expansion, highway sprawl, and the pockets of wealthy developers. You are sacrificing our long-term survival for the short-term greed of a few corporate donors. We are done asking. We are demanding a total shift in Ontario’s priorities: 1. Public Power, Not Profit: Stop protecting the profits of fossil fuel giants. We demand a transition to a renewable energy system that is owned by the public and run for the common good. 2. Invest in People, Not Polluters: Immediately end the subsidies that fund environmental destruction. Redirect those billions into universal public services like free transit and affordable housing. 3. Make the Profiteers Pay: There is no environmental justice without economic justice. The corporations and the super-rich who built their wealth on the destruction of our planet must be the ones to pay for the transition. We need a system that respects the Earth’s limits and ensures no one is left behind. Our future is not for sale.
