It’s a drain on your taxes: An outdated law forces municipalities to pay 35% of the cost whenever Enbridge needs to move its pipes for essential road or bridge repairs. These costs are passed directly to local taxpayers.

It’s a corporate handout: Unlike in Alberta and British Columbia, where municipalities charge fair fees for utility access, Ontario forces cities to give Enbridge free use of public land.

It blocks affordable options: New 20-year “zombie contracts” lock communities into expensive fossil fuel infrastructure until 2046, even though more affordable energy options are available today.
