Don’t Sign Away Our Water

Minister: Don’t Sign Away Our Water

We need to protect our water. Right now, one person—the Minister of the Environment—has the power to either manage our water or give it away to a gravel pit. We need to tell him to choose us.

The Ministry of Environment is deciding right now whether to approve a massive new water permit in a region that is already facing serious water capacity issues.

  • The Community says: “We’ve had to stop building homes and schools because there isn’t enough water to go around.”
  • The Gravel Company says: “We want 9.7 million litres of water a day to wash rocks.”

We need the Minister to choose people over profit.

The Bigger Picture

This isn’t just about one permit. Over the last five years, the Province has approved over 100 water permits in Waterloo. We need to hit the pause button on all new industrial water-taking until we have a real plan to keep building within urban boundaries to help homes and businesses grow.

What we want:

  • Stop the Gravel Permit: Tell the Minister: Don’t sign the deal to give away our water to Esbaugh Sand & Gravel.
  • Hit the Pause Button: Stop all new big industrial water-taking in Waterloo until we know our taps won’t run dry.

Add your voice. It’s not too late to do the right thing.
