Homes are for people. Not for corporate profit.
The Ford government has eroded renters’ rights, allowing “renovictions” to skyrocket while tenant protections disappear. When housing is treated as a way to make corporations rich instead of a way to keep people housed, our communities suffer. With 85,000 people now homeless in Ontario, we must make sure everyone has a safe and secure home:
- Expand rent control to all buildings, including those built after 2018.
- Stop price gouging between tenants so that a new renter pays a fair price based on what the last person paid.
- Crack down on illegal evictions by requiring proof of permits before a landlord can claim they need you to move out for “repairs.”
- Create a task force to investigate the growing use of above-guideline rent increases.
