Gig workers keep Ontario moving. Doug Ford is leaving them behind.

Gig workers keep Ontario moving. Doug Ford is leaving them behind.

Gig Workers are still classified as independent contractors, still locked out of minimum wage protections, sick leave, WSIB, and EI. Some politicians are calling for crackdowns on the e-bike riders delivering our food, without once asking why those workers can’t afford anything else. A labour crisis doesn’t get solved with fines.

Our Demands:

  • Classify all gig workers as employees under the Employment Standards Act and Labour Relations Act
  • Guarantee minimum wage for all hours worked, not just “engaged” time
  • Extend WSIB, EI, sick days, and benefits access to every gig worker in Ontario
  • Make gig work count toward Permanent Residency applications for temporary workers
