Matt Richter: Doug Ford is leaving Parry Sound-Muskoka behind

PARRY SOUND — Matt Richter released the following statement responding to the news that the Ford government denied Muskoka’s application for a HART hub.

“Time and time again, Doug Ford shows us that he has abandoned Ontarians in remote and rural communities. 

Despite our region facing above average rates of homelessness and drug poisonings compared to the rest of the province, this government refuses to step up with the support we need.

They denied the District of Muskoka and the Parry Sound District Social Service Administration Board application for a HART Hub, leaving our neighbours struggling with homelessness and addiction with nowhere to go. 

Lives will be needlessly lost because of this decision. 

I am calling on the Premier and the Minister of Health to properly invest in low-barrier mental health and addictions care, especially in rural and remote communities like Parry-Sound Muskoka, so that every single Ontarian can get the care they need.”
