Clancy on Conestoga appointment: We need to put students first

KITCHENER — MPP for Kitchener Centre Aislinn Clancy responds to news that the province has appointed an administrator to oversee Conestoga College:

“Irresponsible financial mismanagement at Conestoga College has hurt students and workers in our community. Moving forward, their well-being must come first. 

Conestoga is an important employer in Kitchener. Over the past year, we’ve seen thousands of layoffs while executive salaries climbed. People have a right to be angry about this mismanagement.

Ontario Greens hope to see this appointed supervisor and the Ford government working collaboratively with staff, students and community members to ensure that education remains a top priority. 

Changes to Conestoga’s administration must represent the needs of our community and prioritize students, faculty and community members first.”
