OAC Survey: Ford government is leaving kids behind
April 29, 2026
KITCHENER — Aislinn Clancy released the following statement in response to findings from a survey by the Ontario Autism Coalition.
“The Ford government’s chronic underfunding of our education system is robbing children with autism of their right to an education and making schools less safe.
It is unacceptable that 119,000 kids are facing some level of exclusion from school and 21,000 cannot even attend at all.
No child should have to stay home because their school doesn’t have the necessary resources to support them. No parents should have to drop their child off worried about what will happen while they’re apart.
Our schools have been starved and our kids underfunded for years under Doug Ford’s watch. Now, with cuts on the horizon for school boards, children with special needs will have even fewer people advocating for them.
Greens call on the Ford government to meaningfully increase public education funding to hire and retain more teachers and EAs and reverse its cuts to school boards so that every child in Ontario can feel safe, happy and supported at school.”
