Who’s benefiting?: Schreiner on Science Centre relocation

QUEEN'S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Ford government awarding a contract to construct a new Science Centre at Ontario Place.

“The Premier is hoping that we’ll forget the real reason for the Science Centre’s relocation—to prop up this government’s Ontario Place privatization scheme and to line the pockets of wealthy, well-connected developers. 

Ontarians deserve to know: who’s benefitting from this? It’s not the residents of Flemingdon Park, who I’m sure didn’t appreciate hearing the Premier refer to the location as ‘terrible’ at his press conference today.

It’s not taxpayers, who are going to be paying more for a smaller relocation than they would if the government were to repair the original building.

This Premier is pushing ahead with a controversial project that nobody wants for his own political gain—and we’re not buying it.”
