Clancy calls on Premier to support everyday Ontarians

QUEEN'S PARK — In question period today, Aislinn Clancy called on the Premier to stop subsidizing Ontario’s wealthiest so all Ontarians can have a roof and food.

“In my riding, the average rent for a one-bedroom apartment is around $1,800. For people on social assistance, that’s impossible. 

The housing allowance for someone on ODSP is $599. For OW it’s $390. There is no town or city in this province where you can find an apartment for $390 a month.

Meanwhile, this government gives billions of tax payer dollars to subsidize the electricity bill of Ontario’s wealthiest.

Why won’t this government use that money to support the poorest people in Ontario to have a roof and food instead of subsidizing electricity bills for Ontario’s wealthiest?”
