Schreiner: Doug Ford cancelling climate protections

QUEEN'S PARK — Mike Schreiner released the following statement in response to the Ford government using the FES to ram through anti-environment legislation.

“Left unchecked, Doug Ford will continue to demolish environmental protections that defend our property and communities until there’s nothing left.

The Ford government has once again resorted to sneaky, backdoor tactics to weaken protections for natural spaces and leave our communities more exposed to floods, fires and unsafe weather. 

Hidden at the back of the Fall Economic Statement is the Ford government’s plan to remove 60 per cent of Wasaga Beach from provincial park protection, gut conservation authorities and eliminate Ontario’s climate pollution targets.

By burying these on the back page of a budget bill, the Ford government is trying to cover their tracks and keep Ontarians in the dark.

Ontario Greens will keep fighting to protect the people and places that make Ontario home.”
