Ford letting students with autism slip through the cracks

October 23, 2025

QUEEN'S PARK — Aislinn Clancy released the following statement in response to findings from the Ontario Autism Coalition’s 2025 Community Survey Report .

“The Ford government’s chronic underfunding is depriving children with autism of their right to an education and it’s only getting worse.

The number of children receiving necessary services continues to plummet, with wait times over five years for the 61,000 children on waitlists.

Families are being left to fend for themselves. Parents are being forced to make impossible choices between going to work and staying home to provide the support their child’s school can’t offer.

Ontario Greens call on the Ford government to act now and increase funding to OAP and public education funding to hire and retain more teachers and educational assistants so that every child in Ontario can feel safe, supported, and able to thrive at school.”
