Aislinn Clancy Celebrates First Provincial Persons Day
October 21, 2025
KITCHENER — Ontario Greens Deputy Leader Aislinn Clancy released the following statement marking the first Persons Day commemorated in Ontario:
“Today, we mark Persons Day and honour the bold women who, nearly a century ago, fought for legal recognition of women as persons.
Last year, I was proud to work with my colleagues, MPPs McMahon and Wong-Tam, to ensure this historic milestone was recognized in the legislature.
As we celebrate this progress, we must also acknowledge the work that remains. True equality means ensuring that all of our neighbours – including those who are racialized, 2SLGBTQ+ people, people with disabilities, and those who are otherwise marginalized – can fully participate in community life without structural barriers.
Seeing the strength and determination of so many passionate advocates reminds me that change is possible. I remain committed to advancing women’s and gender-diverse leadership in politics and beyond, and to building a more just and inclusive society for all.”
