Clancy celebrates win: Kitchener weekend GO train service

KITCHENER — Ontario Greens Deputy Leader and MPP for Kitchener Centre Aislinn Clancy released the following statement following the news that GO train service will be extended to weekends on the Kitchener line.

“Today is a great day for our community, and one we have been waiting for for years. I am thrilled that Metrolinx and the province have listened to the community and expanded GO train service to include weekends on the Kitchener line. 

Thank you to all levels of government, Metrolinx and all those involved in making this happen.

This change will provide commuters with a quick and reliable transportation option, reduce the number of vehicles on our roads and ease gridlock by offering more affordable ways to get around.

I’m so grateful to the nearly 10,000 people who signed our open letter to Metrolinx and the province calling for this very move. Together, we brought a positive change to our community that’s going to make life easier for so many commuters. 

This is a big step in the right direction and I remain committed to advocating for all-day, two-way GO train service along the Toronto-Guelph-Kitchener corridor to better serve residents and commuters throughout the region.”
