Masks will help Ontario reopen and stay open
March 9, 2022
QUEEN'S PARK — Mike Schreiner made the following statement on masks:
“Ontarians have been through so much in the last two years and we’re all frustrated and waiting for the end of this pandemic. Masks, like vaccines, are a key layer of protection that help us fully reopen the province and stay open.
COVID-19 is an airborne virus. It’s highly contagious. And experts are clear that masks are a crucial protection against spread.
I ask the Premier: show us the data. Ontarians deserve to know whether this decision is based on science and not politics — especially when we learn that the Science Table was not consulted.
Let’s remember that 100% of kids under 5 and 70% of kids age 5 – 11 are still unvaccinated, and the Ford government is putting immunocompromised Ontarians, people with disabilities and children in harm’s way.
When it comes to protecting Ontarians, decisions need to be made on science and data, and not on politics.”
