Doug Ford needs to acknowledge that COVID is airborne

TORONTO — Mike Schreiner made the following statement:

“I’m calling on Doug Ford to publicly acknowledge that COVID is airborne.

It’s time to stop beating around the bush.

Ontario needs a mass awareness campaign to educate the public on how COVID-19 actually spreads.

Especially given the increased transmissibility of the omicron variant.

Many leading public health experts have made strong pleas to the Premier to fully recognize that COVID is airborne.

How can individuals and organizations make better decisions to protect themselves and others if the government isn’t properly informing them of the science?

And we desperately needs policies that provides protection against airborne spread:

• N95 masks to be made available for everyone in high-risk settings, especially those in health care, education and transit
• Better ventilation to improve air quality, including immediate deployment of HEPA 

We can’t sanitize and plexiglass our way out of an airborne pandemic. We have the tools to mitigate the spread of omicron. Let’s use them.”
