TORONTO — Mike Schreiner made the following statement with regards to hospitalizations:
“Every day we witness the consequences of the Ford government’s failure to plan for the second wave.
Healthcare providers and public health officials have sounded the alarm for months. They warned us about this tragic situation where hospitals become overwhelmed, and ICUs surpass manageable capacity.
And now the virus continues to spread like wildfire, requiring field hospitals, cancelling cancer surgeries, and refrigerated trailer units used as temporary morgues to deal with rising death counts.
We can still turn this ship around, but not if the Ford government uses the same failed wait-and-see approach of the fall and summer.
The Premier needs to recall the Legislature and immediately begin cross party coordination to come up with a new government strategy to deal with the worsening pandemic.
If we are all in this together, then we need to work together.”
