Schreiner statement on defective license plates
February 18, 2020
“It should go without saying that a license plate is useless if it cannot be read.
From drunk drivers to amber alerts, we have a serious problem if law enforcement or the public cannot decipher something as basic as a license plate during an emergency.
But with peeling stickers on gas pumps and laughable border signs, this is not the first politically motivated rebranding exercise to backfire on the Premier.
Safety considerations should not have been overlooked in the rush to paint the government brand with the PC brush.
I find it hard to believe that such a massive safety defect would escape the rigorous testing the Minister of Government Services claims was conducted.
So instead of trying to save face, the Minister should be honest and make the safety of roads her top priority.”
