International Women’s Day

Today, on International Women’s Day, we celebrate the achievements of women around the world and reaffirm our commitment to end discrimination and work toward gender equality.

In Canada, we have achieved great feats in the fight for gender parity, but there is still much work to be done to achieve true equality. Women are continually subject to discrimination, sexual harassment, and income inequality at a disproportionate rate. We must fix this.

This year, we have seen people coming out to the streets in droves to march for gender inclusivity worldwide. Over 5 million people attended women’s marches on January 21, solidifying the collective desire for bold action to address inequality.

The 2017 theme for International Women’s Day is #BeBoldForChange. We must commit to taking bold action everyday to contribute to women’s empowerment and advancement in all aspects of society. How will you #BeBoldForChange?
