As an employee with the Bluewater District School Board for the last eight years, Jenny Parsons is concerned with challenges particular to students living in a rural area but has also spent a good deal of her career in urban Toronto. Her Bachelors of Education came from OISE in a specialized cohort concerned with education through the arts. She is currently working with the South Grey Bruce Youth Literacy Council as the field leader for a new drama program called “Literacy on its Feet”.
Parsons had an early interest in politics. She has a political science honours degree from York University. She was involved with the 2010 campaign and then ran for the Green Party of Ontario in 2014 in the Bruce Grey Owen Sound riding. She is honoured to support Mike Schreiner in his shadow cabinet as Children and Youth Services Critic. She is a supporter of the one-school system policy and would like to see these savings partially redirected to protecting arts programs in schools.
